Logo Practice

Project Description: My project was made with the help of Adobe Illustrator.  Adobe Illustrator helped me in creating constructions with stacked text, ligatures, and letters as an object.  In this project, I did not use any tutorials because my teacher explained the directions to us in class.

New Skills, Processes & Tools Learned:
  1. Skills: Live trace, group and ungroup, creating outlines
  2. Processes: Adjusting fonts to make them objects
  3. Tools: Pen tool
Project Reflection: I feel as though working in creating logos was one of my better projects thus far.  I do feel it took me a bit more time than several others, however, I fully grasped the ideas to each construction.  The help from a few classmates also helped me learn more without having to seek out the help of a teacher.  I greatly enjoyed this project.

Participation/Project: 9/10.  I did well with the project, but I could have participated more.

Illustrator Days 8-12

Project Description:  In my project, I used Adobe Illustrator to create various shapes and patterns.  I constructed two keys, with help from the compound path tool.  I made circles with different levels of transparency and opacity.  I made a pear with the brush tool.  I also made star configurations with the brush tool.  I used a tutorial to guide me through this practice.  Day 8: Using Brushes | Day 9: Creating Compound Paths | Day 10: Working with Color and Strokes | Day 11: Editing Objects, Layers & Groups | Day 12: Transparency & Graphic Styles

New Skills, Processes & Tools Learned:

  1. Drawing Tools: Brush Tool
  2. Windows: Graphics Window, Transparency Window, Brush Window
  3. Skills: Reflection, Transparency, Creating Compound Paths
Self Reflection:  I feel as though I did a pretty good job on this Illustrator Practice.  Some parts took a bit longer than others, however, I figured them out along the way.  I felt as though the hardest part was making the circles transparent and opaque.  This gave me the most trouble, and it also took me the longest.

Participation/Project: 8/10.  I feel that some parts of the project I performed well, and others I struggled with.

Adobe Illustrator Blog Post #2-Spaceship

  • Project Description: In Adobe Illustrator, I was able to construct a spaceship with different designs and features.  As I made my way through the tutorial, I paid specific attention to detail, much like I did with the previous project.  However the spaceship was more complicated as opposed to the construction of simple shapes.  More skill was needed to make the ship.

New Skills, Processes & Tools Learned:
  • Drawing Tools: No drawing tools were used when making the spaceship.
  • Shape Tools: One example of a shape I used when making the spaceship was the ellipse.
  • Self Reflection: During this project, I found it easy to use the gradients to change color and look.  I liked how you could change the tone of the project by using color to dictate what it looked like.  However, I thought it was challenging to make the flames.  I found it hard to grasp the idea of removing pieces that were blank to make the shape of the flame.

  • Participation/Project: 9/10-  I feel that I fully understood every task that was asked to be completed.  With a little extra help, I was able to get my work finished and looking good.

Adobe Illustrator Blog Post #1-Introduction

  • Project Description: Adobe Illustrator is a highly advanced program that enables people to make pictures with the help of various tools.  I achieved this tutorial by reading carefully through each step and completing the task assigned.  Some tips when using the tutorial are to read each step fully, and slowly.  Reading too fast can cause students to make subtle mistakes in their work.  (http://www.vectordiary.com/illustrator/learn-illustrator-cs3-in-30-days/)
New Skills, Processes & Tools Learned:

  • Skills: Drawing shapes and different figures in Adobe Illustrator
  • Drawing Tools: Pen tool, pencil tool and direct move tool
  • Shape tools: Rectangle tool, ellipse tool, and star tool
  • Self Reflection: During this project, I found that one thing came particularly easy for me, and that was making different shapes with the shape tool.  I also enjoyed making figures with the pen tool, and using the direct move tool as well.  However, the hardest thing for me to accomplish was making the puzzle piece.  I was confused as to how to make two separate pieces, and I only was able to make one big puzzle piece.

  • Participation/Project: 9/10- I feel that I deserve a 9/10 for my overall grade.  Although I did not grasp the concepts as quickly as some other students, I was able to finish the work on time and to the best of my ability.
